The Pine Creek Overlook is on the other side of the canyon. When I finished the Turkey Trail, it had begun to rain fairly hard. I decided to drive to the other side of the canyon (Colton Point State Park) and see what the views there were like. I drove through the rain and it let up when I arrived. It wasn't a long drive.
This overlook is not actually in Colton Point State Park, it is a bit before it when approaching from Route 6.
There isn't much to the overlook. From the parking lot, you cross the road, go down like 3 steps and are on a stone and concrete platform for viewing the canyon.
When I was there, the views were nice because it had just rained and there was some stratus silvagenitus and fractus in the area. If those weren't there to add some variety to the view, it would probably have just been- look this way, look that way, done.
Would I recommend this, yeah. Colton Point State Park doesn't have as much to do that is short. I did some other stuff here, but the main trail is the Rim Trail, which is an all day commitment and most of the other stuff is just overlooks with maybe a short walk. Further, this is the easiest and fastest viewpoint to get to, the entire stop would take about 5 minutes.
Overall it is easy to get to and quick to experience, so I would recommend doing it as a quick side-stop.
